A Dirge without Music

 

I am not resigned to the shutting away of loving hearts in the hard ground.
So it is, and so it will be, for so it has been, time out of mind:
Into the darkness they go, the wise and the lovely. Crowned
With lilies and with laurel they go; but I am not resigned.

Lovers and thinkers, into the earth with you.
Be one with the dull, the indiscriminate dust.
A fragment of what you felt, of what you knew,
A formula, a phrase remains, --- but the best is lost.

The answers quick & keen, the honest look, the laughter, the love,
They are gone. They have gone to feed the roses. Elegant and curled
Is the blossom. Fragrant is the blossom. I know. But I do not approve.
More precious was the light in your eyes than all the roses in the world.

Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave
Gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind;
Quietly they go, the intelligent, the witty, the brave.
I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.

I feel so sorry for this poor woman....this is unbelievable...you must read this....sounds like the "innocent" little kiddies got on the teacher's computer and visited a few sites.

Well, I've got a contract from ALA Editions and I'm ready to begin..........more later when I'm not exhausted.

Well..I've finally got my book proposals finished. I hope they get back to me soon so I can get started.

I used to work in an inner-city school with an incompetent administrator.  I lost my job because the dinosaur, a-hole principal and I didn't see eye to eye. He had gone for decades without any decent discipline program in his school and it came right out  of the teachers hides.  You know the saying "a mind is a terrible thing to waste."  Well, he was wasting them right and left because of the way he ran or, should I say, didn't run the school.  Now lately it's all over the local news here about how out of control and dangerous the schools in this district are because of incompetent administration over the years.  They are getting bad press and they deserve it.  The Mayor is stating publicly that the district has many, many incompetent principals and administrators and over the years this has led to anarchy.
